Our Story

How a small repair shop grew into a trusted technology partner for thousands of Australians

2014

Starting From a Workshop

spark-assistant began in a modest workshop in inner Melbourne. Our founder, having spent years as a consumer electronics engineer, noticed a gap in the market. Major manufacturers often refused repairs for out-of-warranty devices, and existing repair shops frequently lacked the technical depth to handle complex issues.

The early days focused exclusively on laptop and desktop repairs. Word spread among local businesses who appreciated getting honest assessments rather than being pushed toward unnecessary replacements. That reputation for straightforward service became our foundation.

Milestones That Shaped Us

2015

Mobile Device Expansion

As smartphones became central to daily life, we added mobile repair capabilities. Our investment in micro-soldering equipment allowed us to perform repairs that most competitors couldn't handle.

2017

Business Services Launch

Recognising the IT challenges facing small businesses, we began offering managed services. Our first business clients were local retailers who needed reliable point-of-sale systems and network support.

2019

Smart Home Division

The rise of connected devices created demand for integration expertise. We established our smart home division to help homeowners navigate the increasingly complex ecosystem of IoT products.

2021

Remote Support Capabilities

The pandemic accelerated our remote support offerings. We developed protocols for diagnosing and resolving issues without physical presence, expanding our reach across Australia.

2024

Training Academy

We launched internal training programs to develop the next generation of technicians. Our apprenticeship program combines hands-on experience with structured learning in electronics repair.

Our Core Values

Honest Assessment

We tell you what's actually wrong and what it will cost to fix. If repair doesn't make economic sense, we'll say so. Our reputation depends on trust, not on maximising each transaction.

Technical Excellence

We invest continuously in training and equipment. Our technicians hold certifications across major platforms and stay current with evolving repair techniques and technologies.

Client Education

We explain problems in plain language and share preventive measures. An informed client makes better technology decisions, which ultimately serves everyone better.

Sustainable Practice

Repair extends device lifespans, reducing electronic waste. We properly recycle components that can't be saved and source refurbished parts when they meet our quality standards.

Our Workshop Culture

We've built an environment where technical curiosity thrives. Our technicians share knowledge freely, discuss challenging repairs as a team, and continuously learn from each other's experiences.

The workshop operates on respect—for clients' devices, for each other's expertise, and for the craft of repair itself. New team members shadow experienced technicians before working independently, ensuring consistent quality across all repairs.

We maintain clean, organised workspaces with proper ESD protection and component tracking. This discipline reflects our commitment to treating every device as if it were our own.

Work With a Team That Cares

We approach every project with the same dedication, whether it's a smartphone screen replacement or a complete business IT setup.
